  1. Maura says:

The 3 conditions in the book were: 1) marriage in a church 2) nice dress for Claire 3) stay at the inn, not camping outside somewhere with no privacy.

  2. Maura says:

I just read the book for the first time in August 2014 so that’s why I remember. You two are awesome! Keep up the great videos!

  3. Hi ladies, been listening to your podcast end enjoyed it. Loved that you opened with The Canon in D! I was listening to the ring discussion and wanted to share something. My theory would be that Jamie put Claire’s ring on her right hand because that is the hand they wore it on. I haven’t researched it, but I lived in Russia for 4 years and Russians wear their wedding rings on their right hand. Many American women who live there switch their wedding bands to that hand to look married there. So it could be a happy coincidence that Claire can legitimately wear each ring on the proper hand.

  4. Taylor says:

I wonder if maybe when they get back to Leoch Jamie will ask Claire for the ring back (to go take it to get engraved). I can see that leading to some sort of similar misunderstanding as the one they have in the book where she thinks he’s gone of to go see Laoghaire.

  5. Pam says:

That was a funny one! I have no friends that are Outlander fans so I always look forward to laughing along with you two (or three) after a show or after I’ve read a chapter. (My girlfriends have no idea what they’re missing!) So, thanks. 🙂

Pam, thank you! We have a good time, and love discussing ‘Outlander’ in almost any way. Glad to have you along for the ride! Hope you’ll join us for our DIA read-along 🙂 Thank you for listening!

  6. Dolittle says:

Thanks for your podcasts! Just wanted to chime in on a couple of points. Wife or not, Dougal plans to be laird someday, so he would NEVER marry a sassenach. Having Jamie marry Claire completely takes Jamie out of the running for laird of Clan MacKenzie anytime in the future. Though Jamie implied at the Gathering that he is not interested in being laird, the clan could still vote him in. So this marriage is a big win for Dougal. Also, regarding the ring, one source on the web noted that some photos released from late in the season still plainly show Claire wearing that key ring. Maybe its there for good – or until it rusts.

    • outlanderpod says:

Dolittle, exactly, Dougal definitely has more up his sleeve than he’s telling us (thus far in the series). It does seem that this is the ring that is there for good 🙂 Thank you for listening and for leaving a comment 🙂

So happy to have found souls as obsessive as I am with this book!! A few of my favorite moments sadly MISSING in the wedding episode: Claire asks Jamie why he agreed to marry her. Jamie says one reason was to keep her safe and the other was that “perhaps it’s just that I want to bed you.” I loved how that disconcerts Claire who up until then had the sexual upper hand, so to speak. It’s bold, direct, sexy and so Jamie! I also missed the “Holy God” and “Don’t stop now” lines. And what about the “Dinna be afraid, there’s two of us now.” ??? That’s like the best line in the whole book! These are just minor complaints, though. I’ve seen the episode about 13 times now and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m sure there are many well-bedded husbands across America this week. ;o)

  8. Amy says:

Did it bother anyone else that when Jamie took off his shirt in front of Claire, there was no scar from when he was shot in the shoulder? I loved the episode, and Jamie looked amazing–but I was surprised that the makeup team would put so much effort into the scars on his back, but would overlook his shoulder wound. It may have healed, but there would certainly be a scar. Thoughts?
